About the Vice President of Delivery

The Vice President of Delivery (VP of Delivery) is a senior leadership role responsible for driving excellence, consistency, and scalability across all client delivery functions. This leader oversees the Project Management Office (PMO and the broader delivery ecosystem, shaping and enforcing a unified delivery methodology that enables predictable, profitable, and high-quality outcomes across all practices. The VP of Delivery will partner closely with executive leadership, practice leads, and operational stakeholders to define and enforce standards for delivery quality, governance, process, and accountability. This role serves as the bridge between business strategy and operational execution – ensuring the way we deliver is a competitive advantage for the organization. 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership 

  • Develop and own the overarching delivery vision and strategy, aligning it with organizational goals and growth plans. 

  • Partner with executive leadership to evolve delivery models that scale across practices and client types. 

  • Lead the transformation of the PM discipline into a high-performing delivery function focused on outcomes, not tasks. 

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance delivery quality, consistency, and efficiency. 

Delivery Methodology & Governance 

  • Design, implement, and maintain a unified delivery framework that integrates all practice areas but allows for process variation by engagement type. 

  •  Establish governance structures, success metrics, and reporting to measure delivery health across all engagements. 

  • Champion delivery best practices and enforce standards for quality, risk management, and client communication standards. 

Cross-Practice Leadership 

  • Directly oversee delivery leaders within each practice, ensuring consistency in execution 

  • Partner with Practice Leads to align delivery capability and resourcing with practice development roadmaps. 

  •  Drive collaboration across departments to break down silos and create a cohesive delivery ecosystem. 

  • Serve as a senior escalation point for key clients and high-impact projects. 

PMO Oversight and Talent Development 

  • Continue leadership of the Project Management Office, evolving it from a function-specific group to an enterprise-level center of excellence. 

  • Own the delivery career framework, competency models, and growth paths for PMs and Delivery Leaders 

  • Develop and mentor PMO leadership and delivery managers by building a structured enablement program that raises delivery maturity and develops future leaders. 

  • Ensure tools, templates, and methodologies are standardized and adopted consistently across practices. 

Operational & Financial Accountability 

  •  Partner with Finance and Operations to ensure delivery teams meet margin, utilization, and revenue targets. 

  •  Own delivery performance across the portfolio, including margin, predictability, utilization, and quality. 

  • Forecast and manage delivery capacity to meet organizational demand. 

  • Support business development through scoping, estimation, and pre-sales engagement when necessary. 

People & Culture 

  • Build a culture of empowered delivery ownership, accountability, and transparent communication within delivery teams. 

  • Coach Delivery Leaders and PMs to elevate leadership behaviors, decision- making and client management. 

  • Invest in leadership development and talent growth within PMO and practice delivery leads. 

  • Promote collaboration, diversity, and inclusion within all delivery disciplines 


Qualifications 

  • 10–15+ years of experience leading multi-disciplinary digital or professional services delivery organizations. 

  • Proven experience managing cross-functional delivery at scale (across multiple practices or geographies). 

  • Deep understanding of program management, delivery methodologies, and client lifecycle management. 

  •  Exceptional communication, leadership, and change management skills. 

  • Demonstrated success in evolving delivery organizations, implementing governance frameworks, and improving delivery performance. 

  •  Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

$175,000 - $225,000 USD

In accordance with applicable law, the above salary range provided is Verndale's reasonable estimate of the salary for this role. The actual amount may vary, based on non-discriminatory factors such as location, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities. In addition to salary, Verndale also offers a competitive benefits package.
